Entry Requirements

1. Admission to the Pathways Enabling Course will be open to candidates who are not admissible to a course and who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate course; or

2. Candidates:

(a) who have not successfully completed a course leading to an award of the University; and

(b) who state that completion of this Enabling Course will make them better prepared to undertake an undergraduate course; and

(c) who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate course.

Bachelor (Honours)

Students undertake Honours in one of the majors they studied in their undergraduate degree.
Entry Requirements

1. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the Head of School on the recommendation of the Course Coordinator.

2. Except as provided in Rule 3, a candidate for admission to the honours course shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor of International Studies from The University of New England; and

(b) have attained a minimum grade point average of 5.0 (Credit); and

(c) have achieved 18 credit points at Distinction level or better in 300-level units in the major in which the candidate wishes to proceed; and

(d) have passed units to the value of at least 36 credit points in the major in which the candidate wishes to proceed, except that with the approval of the course coordinator, up to 12 credit points of other units may be substituted; and

(e) have fulfilled any additional requirements prescribed and published by the school or area concerned.

3. With the approval of the Head of School a person who has fulfilled the requirements of an equivalent AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification of a university or other institution and who meets requirements considered by the school to be equivalent to those specified in Rule 2 (b), (c), (d) and (e), may be admitted to the honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of International Studies with Honours.

*Relevant employment includes: professional administration, law practice, court house, police officer, government departments, or related area as approved by the Course Coordinator.

Applicants applying under Rule (b) must submit a Statement of Service from their employer.

Transfer from another Award

Students in another award may apply for admission into this course on successful completion of at least 4 units of study with a minimum GPA of 4.2, or on successful completion of 8 units of study with a minimum GPA of 3.9.

Masters (Research)

The University of New England is committed to maintaining its strong research culture, underpinned by high research training standards. The Master of Laws (Research) Rules provide the framework for one of the University's AQF Level 9 awards.
Entry Requirements

All applicants must meet the requirements for all Higher Degrees by Research as stated in the English Language Requirements Higher than the University Minimum Requirements Annex to the University's English Language Requirements for Admission Rule.

1. Admission to candidature in the degree of Master of Laws (Research) may be provided by the Committee only when the Head of School has:

(a) certified that the necessary facilities and appropriate support for the applicant undertaking the proposed LLM program are available; and

(b) nominated an appropriate Principal Supervisor and co-supervisor(s) in accordance with Rule 4.

2. The Committee may, on the recommendation of the relevant Head of School, admit to candidature into the course for the degree of Master of Laws (Research) an applicant who:

(a) hold a degree of Bachelor with at least second class honours (AQF Level 8) or (AQF Level 9 Masters or AQF Level 10, in Law); or

(b) hold a degree at AQF Level 7 or AQF Level 9 Masters in law leading to admission to legal practice and the equivalent of at least two years full-time, documented, relevant professional experience.

3. All applicants must meet the University's English Language Requirements for Admission Rule.
